Your Home’s Energy Efficiency—Signed, Sealed & Delivered
Did you know your ductwork could have hundreds of tiny holes and gaps that leak up to 40 percent of the air distributed through them? While your ductwork is responsible for distributing heated and cooled air throughout your home, it’s also where your home loses a significant amount of energy without you even noticing it.
It’s completely possible to seal ducts once they have been installed, but it’s not as easy as most homeowners believe. Ductwork isn’t nearly as accessible as it used to be. Plus, many leaks happen in ductwork that runs inside of your home’s walls, floors and ceilings. They also can be buried under your insulation.
But, there is a way to seal ducts with relative ease: Aerosealing. Developed by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Aeroseal covers up holes and cracks up to 5/8 of an inch wide, reducing your ductwork’s air leakage by up to 90 percent!
Bolton’s professionals are expertly trained to Aeroseal your home’s ductwork. Contact us online today or call 770.268.2010 to eliminate 90 percent of the leaks in your home’s ductwork!
How Does Aerosealing Work?
Aerosealing with Bolton is a simple and quick process:
- Your ductwork is tested to see if it needs Aerosealing.
- All registers get sealed off.
- A blower pressurizes your ducts using an aerosol blast of tiny adhesive particles.
- The particles stay suspended until they find a leak. As they try to escape your ductwork, they attach to the cracks and holes where they are attempting to exit.
- Eventually, you have enough particles to seal your leak.
- A second test is performed to measure the overall effectiveness of the Aerosealing.
How Can You Trust the Sealant Used Is Actually Safe?
We’re sure you’ve heard of other products that claim to be safe for consumer use, but, as it turns out, that’s not the case. So, we understand if you’re suspicious about the safety of the sealant used in Aerosealing. But worry no more! At Bolton, your health and safety is our top priority. You can trust that we wouldn’t put anything in your ductwork that is hazardous to breathe or would put your family’s wellbeing in harm’s way.
The sealant used in our Aerosealing systems is tested and approved for such use by the Underwriters Laboratory (UL). UL carries out government-regulated safety tests and only approves products for various uses after extensive testing. Aerosealing has passed UL testing for smoke generation, flame spread, mold growth and erosion. In other words, Aerosealing doesn’t cause any additional safety or health hazards in your home.
Aerosealing uses water and two chemicals found in water-based paints, adhesives and hair spray. Plus, the sealant doesn’t have an odor, won’t crack and comes with a 10-year warranty!
If you have any other concerns or questions, our team is just a call away! We’d be more than happy to help ease your fears!
